BEA Atlantic is pleased to announce its first BEAA Talk featuring emerging practitioner, and Design Architect with EXP Architects, Melissa Wakefield to be held Tuesday, February 19th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm in Saint John, New Brunswick.
BEAA Talks are a series of round-table discussions held at the offices of Architects across the region and provide a platform for promoting equality within the profession, through networking and leadership opportunities. The host speaker will share their learned experience that will include subjects pertaining to Practice Management, Project Management, Architectural Culture, Risk Management or the Legal Issues and Legislation related to Architectural Practice and the Construction Industry. BEAA Talks qualify for one (1) continuing education credit.

Melissa Wakefield, AANB, OAA, MRAIC
Melissa is a Design Architect with strong design instincts and a practical range of professional experience honed over the course of her career working for some of Canada’s most celebrated architects including Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, Acre Architects, and HoK. She is a dedicated professional who takes great care and pride in her projects which she demonstrates daily through her attention to detail, craftsmanship and resourcefulness. Over the course of her career, Melissa has been instrumental in the design, detailing, and construction of numerous custom residential projects throughout Eastern and Atlantic Canada. Her background in residential architecture ranges from hands-on experience with large budget, high-touch residential projects and has been a key team member for several large-scale projects including heritage renewal and infills, educational facilities, and a multi-million square foot fit-up. Melissa’s ability to keep design ideas in focus as they develop from schematic design into working drawings is a great asset to all her projects. Since joining EXP in 2017, she has been a vocal advocate for design excellence; working to develop a locally focused design ethos and process for her office, as well as finding creative design opportunities for her clients at every turn.
